Athena: aloha everyone and thank you so much for tuning into another week of trauma recovery University. I’m your host Athena Moberg and with us in the green room is your incredible cohost and my esteemed colleague Bobbi Parish. Who are we and are you in the right place? If you are an adult survivor of child abuse, you are in the right place.
We are athena moberg and bobbi parish and we are adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and we show up here every single week with a new topic to discuss with you, the survivor community, and help you in your recovery journey. This week’s topic is complex posttraumatic stress disorder. So complex PTSD, how does that differ from classic PTSD? What are the symptoms?.
What are the differences and the million dollar question: is it possible to heal? How can we heal? If we in fact are living with symptoms of complex PTSD, is it possible to heal? Is it possible to get better? Is it possible to feel better? Is it possible to live a life of wholeness and joy and peace and actually enjoy our lives.
And not feel constantly like we’re under this pressure and constantly have emotional flashbacks or dissociative episodes or struggles with emotional regulation or trouble in our relationships or trouble in our workplace or just overall feeling of low selfesteem and low selfworth and doubting our reality and wondering if we’re capable of living this journey. All of these things are engulfing and they are overwhelming and we are here to share with you just some tips and strategies and some very real life application and stories.
With you the survivor community just to bring you hope. We want to encourage you. We want to build you up and we want to lead the charge. We want to show you that it is possible to heal. It is possible to have joy and it is possible to enjoy your life even if you are an adult survivor of childhood abuse specifically childhood sexual abuse.
It is possible to enjoy relationships. It is possible to move on and we are here to show you how and what we have done and I want to preface all of this by saying, we Bobbi and myself will never show up and say We have it all figured out. We’ve arrived and you guys are broken. No that is never the stance that we take.
We are healing on this journey right alongside you, all of us together in safe community. We Bobbi and myself, we facilitate and we organize online safe communities for adult survivors to come heal in safety, free from predators, free from minimization, free from abuse. So if you’re not plugged into one of our safe communities, stick around till the end of this episode and we will show you an easy 4step process on how to get welcomed into.
Safe community and meet other anything survivors just like you who are navigating the waters of recovery. So if you’re listening to this on a podcast platform such as iTunes or Stitcher or Speaker, Sound Cloud, I Heart Radio or any other podcast platform, we would love to remind you this is a tutorial broadcast. This is weekly live Q and A and we have a Roku television channel as well as a YouTube.
