No matter what brand you choose, every e-cig has three main components – battery, tank, and the atomizer. It is the atomizer that heats up the e-juice and turns it into vapor that you inhale. Atomizer has a soft wick that absorbs e-juice, this in turn ensures that not too much vapor is produced at one time and leads to longer vaping sessions. The disadvantage of atomizers is that you have to clean them often in order to avoid that burning taste. Moreover you have to replace them every two weeks or longer depending upon your usage of e-cigarette pen.
Clearomizers are transparent; hence the users always know how much e-liquid is left in their tank. This helps avoid awful burning taste and smell that arises when you continue to vape even when e-liquid has run out. With a transparent clearomizer, you always know when it is time to refill e-liquid. If you always want to be aware of the quantity of e-juice left in your tank, then it would be advisable to switch to a clearomizer from atomizer.
Clearomizers are available in a variety of tank sizes. Users can always opt for a larger tank in order to enjoy longer vaping session without the need to refill their tank. What gives clearomizers an edge over atomizers is that with clearomizers you can always regulate the amount of e-juice you are using.
There are different kinds of clearomizers available and each has its own pros and cons. There is top coil clearomizer that produces warm vapor and is the easiest to refill. However in top coil variety, you have to keep moistening the wicks in order to get steady hits.
On the other hand, bottom coil clearomizer boasts of great wicking and produces excellent vapor. However bottom coil variety, tends to make odd noises such as gurgles. Moreover bottom coil is much harder to refill as compared to top coil clearomizer.
Cartomizers are a lot like clearomizers. The major difference is that cartomizers are wrapped with a material called polyfill around a heating coil. Polyfill is actually an artificial filler that soaks e-liquid and enables longer vape time. The disadvantage of cartomizer is that you cannot refill its cartridge. They can be used only once. There are ways to refill the cartridge, but that can be really messy and complicated.
Vapers can use a syringe to refill certain refillable cartomizers. However cartomizer tanks are hard to clean and if the tank is not properly cleaned, little residue from the previous e-juice would be left behind. This won't create much problem as long as you are refilling same vape flavor. But if you are refilling different e-liquid flavor, it can alter the taste of your e-juice.
